Dave Miller – CEO, Uzado Inc.

Dave Millier (@davemillier) is well-known in the Canadian High-Tech marketplace, where he’s been helping customers with their security and compliance needs for over 20 years. For the past 15 years Dave has focused on growing one of Canada’s most recognized Managed Service Providers, Sentry Metrics. Dave recently sold the business to Robert Herjavec of Dragon’ss Den and Shark Tank Fame and his company The Herjavec Group. As the founder of Sentry Metrics, Dave created and brought to market the industry-leading Security and Risk Compliance Dashboard the Sentry.  Dave retained all rights to the IP that was under development prior to the acquisition, and has recently re-launched the award-winning platform under a new brand name, Uzado (www.uzado.com).

Dave has presented at many network and security conferences including Network World, Comdex, InfoSecurity Canada, and SC Congress. Dave is an Advisor and has presented annually at Sector, Canada’s preeminent Security Conference. Dave has written numerous articles for security and networking magazines, and is often quoted in the press talking about current security issues. Dave was recently recognized as one of the top 8 security professionals you need to know in the GTA.

Dave is a recognized leader in the field of governance and risk compliance, and has helped a number of Canada’s leading organizations build their corporate security strategies, align them with regulatory and corporate requirements, and then implement strategies to help them “attain and maintain” their overall compliance as well as improve their security postures.

When Dave is not pursuing his plans for world domination (one client at a time), he’s an avid amateur dual sport motorcycle rider, and loves to spend his spare time off-road motorcycling.

  1. Bryan Li – Managing Director, Cyber Security Catalyst, the Cyber Security Project

Bryan has 20+ Years experience in the areas of enterprise solutions development, information security, program management, corporate strategy, and IT consulting. His leadership and management experience includes Director of Product Development and Innovation, Director of Program Management, Header of Business Systems in multiple industry leading companies. Bryan is also the Director of Health and Safety Business Association (a federal not-for-profit corporation).

In his own company – Cybersecurity Project, Bryan acts as a systemic catalyst to form a better cybersecurity ecosystem by collaborating with markets, vendors, talents, investors, and regulators. Bryan is dedicated to addressing the growing concerns about cybersecurity via innovated technologies, awareness/training, and community programs.

Bryan has delivered many cybersecurity seminars and speeches at the organizations such as University of Toronto Rotman School of Management, City of Markham, Canadian German Security Technology Conference. Bryan is the founder/organizer of Cyber Security Meetup in Toronto with over 700 members.

Claudiu Popa is the author of four books on security and privacy, from Managing Personal Information, published by Thomson Reuters, to the Canadian Privacy and Data Security Toolkit published by CPA Canada. He has been active in Canada’s information security scene for over two decades, bringing research and board-level advisory to the private sector. He currently holds professional certifications from major professional associations and teaches standardized information risk management in collaboration with academic institutions including Seneca College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. As the co-founder of KnowledgeFlow Foundation, he helps bring cybersafety to schools and communities through education and the application of innovative technologies.

3. Steve Driz – Cyber Security & IT Leader, Founder of the Driz Group

As the founder and a president of The Driz Group, Steve has helped many organizations to solve most challenging cyber security and compliance, and business and technology problems. With an emphasis on information security, IT operations, infrastructure and software development, Steve stood at the forefront of cutting-edge technological advances as a technology evangelist and an early adopter.

Over the years, Steve held most senior operations, cyber security and technology positions contributing to the success of OutsideIQ, March of Dimes Canada, Toronto Board of Trade, Travel CUTS, Reliance Insurance Canada, and Microsoft Corporation.

Steve holds a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, and two prestigious designations awarded by the Canadian Information Processing Society, including Information Systems Professional, and an internationally recognized Information Technology Certified Professional (ITCP).

Maryam is a Senior Lead in Deloitte’s Cyber Risk practice. She has over 9 years of experience in Cyber Security with a focus on managed security services and cyber threat intelligence. She has also led cyber security audit and PCI DSS gap analysis engagements for a number of organizations. During her tenure at Deloitte, she has played a key role in establishing and maturing Deloitte Canada’s Cyber Threat Intelligence practice.

Maryam holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering. Her academic research focused on the development of distributed identity and privacy protection solutions

Brian has a passion for security and has been an active member of the IT security community for over 20 years. Being part of the IT community has always been important to Brian and his entrepreneurial spirit and industry experiences are what helped establish TASK and SecTor as part of Black Arts Illuminated.

When he’s not running conferences and events, Brian maintains his technical edge as Executive Vice President, Products, New Signature, a Microsoft National Solution Provider headquartered in Washington DC. In June 2015, New Signature acquired Microsoft technology consultancy CMS Consulting and cloud management service Infrastructure Guardian, two businesses Brian founded.

Brian also holds certifications including CISSP, MCITP, MCT and MVP status. When he’s not around a computer, you’ll find him out burning gasoline in a motorized vehicle, running a marathon or participating in a triathlon.
