MEET THE SPEAKERS

Speaker #1: Steve Aitken – Director of Product at Myant/SKIIN

Steve is a consumer electronics product innovator and entrepreneur who has spent his career bringing many successful products to market at BlackBerry, Jaybird, and now Myant. His background is in electronics design with an M.Eng. and B.ASc in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, and an MBA from Hult International Business School. He’s currently working on bringing textile computing to the mass market at Myant. Steve’s passion for technology and love of user centered design keeps him motivated to create products that delight users at every touch-point.

“Biometrics in Textile Computing”
Steve’s presentation will focus on embedding technology into textiles and clothing industry. He is going through the unique challenges and opportunities Textile Computing introduces in the market.

Matt leads business development for SecureKey, bringing on new partners to their digital identity ecosystem. Matt combines a background of strategy, product management and consulting with his enthusiasm for technology to identify new and innovative opportunities to solve business problems.

“Verified.Me – An Ecosystem Approach to Digital Identity”
Matt’s presentation will focus on his experience and projects that he has been working on at SecureKey as a case study. To explain, SecureKey is working with leading organizations to create Verified.Me, a new identity ecosystem for Canadians that focuses on efficiency, security and privacy.

John is the Founder and CTO of kiwi.ai – human motion recognition tech, In April 2018, kiwi.ai team joined Sentiance to lead AI development in Canada. John is currently a VP of Embedded Development focused on AI and machine learning products for on device recognition. His background is in chemical engineering with a B.A..Sc in chemical engineering

“Deep Learning for Human Movement Detection Running on Your Device”
Based on his background and experience, John will touch on benefits, opportunities and challenges of running AI software on devices like a smartphone or IOT device. He will also touch on 1 use case of human movement classification using accelerometer and gyroscope data on a phone.
