Autumn is an exciting time here in Toronto for technology. Here’s a brief run through of some Toronto tech events that we recommend you keep on your radar.

 

Energy Hackathon 
  • When – This weekend, September 7 – 8, come to MaRS to build an app, create a gadget and join the Green Button Revolution!

  • The hackathon is free and is looking for developers, designers, energy experts to come together to create apps that take advantage of the Green Button open API. The Green Button allows Ontarians to access and share electricity data in a standardized, secure manner.

FITC SCREENS
  • When – Running over two days, October 3 – 4 in the Metro Convention Centre, the event will feature presentations, panel discussions, demos as well as an optional day of workshops – all focused around mobile.

  • If you’re interested in mobile development then this is the event for you. Topics covered include Google Glass, Mobile UX, Agile Development, Responsive Design and Smart Watches – and many more!

  • When – Canada’s premier Android development conference takes place on October 17th at the Scotiabank Theatre on Richmond Street West.

  • The exciting thing about this conference is that it covers the evolution of Android, moving beyond being just an operating system and becoming a platform that will become an integral part of our daily lives. From your fridge, to your car, from the windows, to the walls – Android Everywhere is a good a reason as any to check out this great conference.

MakerFaire
  • When – Join ‘the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth’ on September 21st and 22nd at Wychwood Barns for tinkering, hacking, inventing. and making!

  • The goal of MakerFaire is to educate and entertain, and bring together Makers from all sorts of backgrounds –  from tech enthusiasts to crafters to garage tinkerers. There’ll be a host of workshops and hands-on activities for all ages. Exhibits will most likely include robots, lasers, 3D printing and more!

Canadian Wireless Trade Show
  • When – September 25 – 26 will see ‘The Canadian Wireless Trade Show – The Mobile Experience’ come to The Toronto Congress Centre.
