Ward Technology Talent Team Spotlight – Mark

 In Ward Technology Talent

Get to know Mark, digital marketing specialist at Ward Technology Talent, joining us all the way from Ireland. You can follow him on Twitter here.

Where are you from/ where did you grow up?

I was born in Dublin, Ireland and grew up there until moving to Toronto recently.

Where did you go to college?

I went to Dublin City University back in Ireland.

What did you study in school/ major in?

I studied ‘Marketing, Innovation and Technology’ and graduated in 2011.

What are your hobbies?

I’m a fan of watching rugby, cooking, brewing beer, drinking appreciating beer, reading World War 2 biographies.

What is your favorite quote?

‘What was the best thing before sliced bread?’ – George Carlin.

What is your favorite sport?

When it comes to watching sports, rugby is my sport of choice. It helps that Ireland is halfway decent. I recently enjoyed watching Ireland beat Canada in BMO Field. A sweet, sweet victory.

What is your favorite movie?

Cool Hand Luke, with Paul Newman, is my favourite film, I’ve seen it so many times and it’s gotten better every time. Back to the Future is also up there for me but I always ask myself – how do Marty McFly’s parents not realise that they gave birth to their friend from the 50’s who mysteriously disappeared?

TV show?

My mainstays would be Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, The Office (UK) and Father Ted – an Irish comedy series about 3 priests living on an island off the west coast of Ireland, a lot funnier than it sounds!

Band?

Hmm, I’d say AC/DC or Hall & Oates. When it comes to music I’ll listen to anything  from Mongolian throat singing to west coast 90s hip hop and everything in between.

What website or blog do you go to everyday?

Reddit, I’m at the stage where I get withdrawals if I haven’t been on it in a while.

What is the best and worst gift you ever received?

The best gift would be a Nintendo back in Christmas of 1993. Super Mario World 3 and the lack of a save function taught 4 year old me a lot about life.  The worst give was a pair of Scooby Doo Y-fronts when I was 9. It left a bitter taste in my mouth.

What excites you the most about working at Ward Technology Talent?

We’re a growing company which allows me to help a lot with the direction we take. This is something that really excites me. There’s also a great company culture here that makes coming to work something I look forward to.

Fun Facts?

I played bass in an 80s cover band and hold a Guinness World Record.
